The Vintage 1999 Connecticut offers the cigar smoker another choice in the Vintage range from Rocky Patel. It is a mild smoke with a nutty aroma and creamy, toasty flavors on the tongue. The Vintage 1999 features a true Connecticut shade wrapper united with underlying balance from 7-year-old filler tobaccos. The result is a light refreshing cigar suitable for a morning smoke.
The medium tan Connecticut wrapper is very smooth with small veins and a light oily sheen. The offsetting white and gold band makes for a very classic presentation.
The construction is firm and the cap is applied expertly. A clean clip and cold draw shows an excellent draw and tastes slightly of hay.
Easily lit, the cigar burns with a fine line and gives off a mouthful of smoke with the slightest pull. The scent in the air is nutty and slightly sweet. A whitish gray ash is firm, and holds on well.
Bitter almonds begin the flavor journey, but quickly change to toasty and buttery flavors. A somewhat dry finish also transitions to smooth and creamy as the cigar progresses.
In the middle third, nutty and woody notes come forward, with the base remaining toasty.
There is little change throughout the rest of the cigar, but the resulting experience is light and enjoyable.
