This cigar commemorates the company's 30th anniversary. All cigars in this series are available in sun-grown natural and maduro wrappers. The tobacco is aged for four years, creating a smooth and complex flavor. It is also box-pressed in honor of the age-old Cuban tradition.
Pre-Smoke The overall impression of this cigar is high class, as the 1964 series is very beautiful, with a very dark tight wrapper. A large gold, white and maroon band contributes to this appearance, and each cigar is numbered to prevent counterfeiting.
The box pressed cigar is well packed, and the wrapper exhibits no obvious veins or blemishes.
A perfect draw is apparent after the cut, and flavors of coffee, chocolate and leather are tasted on the cold draw.
Burn
Occasionally an uneven burn would occur, but the cigar quickly corrected itself throughout the entire length. Copious amounts of smoke from the foot, and a light gray almost white ash.
The Flavor Initially, the flavors tended to be mostly clean and tobacco related. A little spice, leather and wood develop as the cigar burns through the first third.
Wood and leather develop more in the second third with more spice, some coffee and a light vanilla note that comes and goes. The complexity and flavors that are characteristic of a Padron are now coming through.
At the end, the spice dominates the full strength flavor, while occasional chocolate, coffee, wood still make an appearance. The Padron is always an enjoyable cigar if you like the medium to full range and the 1964 Series is consistently ranked by experts as one of the top brands in the world.
