Profound flavors of coffee and dark chocolate, this puro is a cigar worth consideration. Not only did it receive its high rating for flavor, but also for value. Created by two cigar legends, Manuel Quesada and Nestor Plascencia, this little beauty is made in the Segovia factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
Pre-Smoke
Slightly toothy, this dark brown stick felt solid, heavy and well packed. The scent of the wrapper is of earth and compost and more so at the foot. A firm yet clear cold draw after the clip yields flavors of dark chocolate and aged tobacco.
Burn
The cigar’s burn while not straight, stayed fairly even throughout and the ash is light to medium gray and stays mostly tight to the stick.
The Flavor
Initially, the flavors presented were dark mocha, cedar, and a sweetness like toffee or caramel. Overall the smoke had a creaminess to it that was very inviting. The finish is fairly long but elegant.
In the middle, aged tobacco and leather flavors appear alongside the spice and caramel flavors. This does much to keep the Casa Magna enjoyable, as does the delicious fragrant resting smoke. Scents of spice, tobacco and chocolate fill the air.
The cigar finishes on black coffee, and rich leather notes. Sit and enjoy this cigar when you can relax and really enjoy the complexity of the flavors, it is well worth a spot in anyone's humidor.
